Thanks to our wonderful friend Frank for getting us to the airport in luxury on Sunday. At the airport to see Linda off were her beautiful grand children - Lachie and Maddie as well as Tony and Anita. After a quick lunch in the Qantas Club, we settled into our very spacious exit row seats. Thank you Michael's mate for getting them for us. They are next best thing if you're not lucky enough to be in business class.
A very long twenty-nine hours later (via Dubai and London!) we have arrived in Athens. Our compact but well appointed room is just a stones throw from the Acropolis. Although its not open tonight - Monday, we'll definitely be having drinks at the roof top bar tomorrow night and watching the sun set over the Parthenon.
We spent the afternoon strolling around the gardens and onto the Plaka area where Linda promptly found herself in shoe heaven. There are 110 stores in just 300 meters along a street and at least every second one was a shoe shop! It's alright Tony - I managed to hide her credit card!
We are booked for a free walking tour on Wednesday morning by which time I hope some nasty blisters from today's stroll will have disappeared. Otherwise, my ankle is fine and not swollen too much even after the long flight. Very pleased about that!
